Students Set Out To Create (Messy) World Record For Longest PB&J Sandwich
It was lunch time for the students at Escondido Charter High School in Escondido, Calif., who hoped to set a record for the world’s longest PB&J sandwich, U-T San Diego reported. They also attempted to make it in record time.

Wednesday was National Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Day, and to mark the occasion Matt Weathersby, owner of the Jelly Bear Jelly Co., reached out to the school with his idea for the event. They were interested.

Ten students made a 51-foot, 6-inch sandwich, which took just two minutes and 35 seconds to complete.

They used 17 jars of jelly, 25 (2-foot-long) loaves of bread and 30 pounds (yes, 30 pounds) of peanut butter, FOX5 reported.

The extra-long creation was enjoyed by 75 students from the Heritage K-8 Charter School, and was then finished off by the high schoolers. Sorry, we know you were looking forward to leftovers!

“The best part was seeing the kids,” Weathersby told FOX5. “They were happy, not just the high schoolers who were building the sandwich, but the elementary school kids as they sat down to eat.”

The Guinness World Records doesn’t have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich category, but it does have the longest sandwich listed at 2,411 feet and 5 inches long.
